The National Search and Rescue Agency (BNPP), formerly known as Search and Rescue (English: search and rescue; SAR), is an activity and effort to search, help, and save human lives that are lost or feared lost or facing danger in disasters such as shipping, aviation, and disasters. The term SAR has been used internationally, no wonder it has become so globalised that it is familiar to people in any part of the world, including Indonesia.
SAR operations are carried out not only in areas with heavy terrain such as the sea, forests, deserts, but also in urban areas. SAR operations should be carried out by personnel who have the skills and techniques to not endanger the rescue team itself or its victims. SAR operations are carried out on aviation disasters such as aircraft crashes, emergency landings and others, while on shipping disasters in the event of a ship sinking, burning, collision, running aground and others. Likewise, there are other disasters such as fires, building collapses, train accidents and others.
